Update: Far southwest Austin upscale deli and restaurant Lox, Box, and Barrel is now closed at 9521 Highway 290. It shuttered right before Thanksgiving on Wednesday, November 21, 2018. Its website simply states that “Sorry, we are no longer open.”

The reason for the shutter is because the restaurant “could not come to terms with the landlord on a new lease,” according to the Facebook post explanation. Lox, Box, and Barrel owner Sebastien Caillabet is planning on relocating the restaurant and deli somewhere in Austin, though there are no solid plans as of yet, according to its Facebook page. “I am sorry to inform you that Austin has lost another great person. Rest in peace, guys. You will be deeply missed.”
